ARTIFACT: This is a 1950s United States Army Headquarters Allied Forces Central Europe patch. The patch is shield-shaped and spells out Charlemagne's motto around its border: "In scelus exsurgo sceleris discrimina purgo" (I fight against aggression and punish the aggressor). The center of the shield shows the sword of Charlemagne, the first ruler to unite Western Europe, and his tower at Aix-la-Chapelle in Aachen, Germany.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 3-3/8" in height and 1-15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: The patch you receive will either be the one pictured or a very similar one. This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEX96 LCIX5/11 S(2)CIX11/13

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The patch shows some light to moderate wear, especially along its edge, but has retained its vibrant coloring.
