ARTIFACT: This is an English-made patch for the United States Army Americal Division. The name Americal came from combining "American, New Caledonian Division" because the group was formed on New Caledonia immediately after Pearl Harbor attack. Later named the 23rd Infantry Division, Americal is one of only two Army divisions to be known by a name rather than a number during the war. The patch shows four white stars against a field of blue.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: 2-9/16" height and 1-7/8" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully-embroidered in cotton/silk threads.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJX99 LHEX8/10 SHEX5/11

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): Patch shows light wear and slight fading.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
