ARTIFACT: This is a minty World War II jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 463rd Bomb Squadron, 346th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. The patch shows Bugs Bunny-esque character against a brightly-colored background throwing a bomb. The 463rd was sent to the Pacific Theatre to fly B-29s from June-August 1945, but did not make it into combat before Victory Over Japan Day. They operated doing Occupation duty at Okinawa until they were disbanded in August 1946. This patch was sent home in an original envelope (included in purchase) simply signed "Love, Dick".

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 5-1/4" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted leather, wax paper envelope.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: Love, Dick written on front.; 463d Bombardment written on envelope.
