ARTIFACT:
This is a Lovely circa 1930 United States Marine Corps China Marines Ransom Cup 1st Place Shooting Trophy of Gunnery Sergeant T. J. Jones in Chinese Silver.
The query "China Marines Ransom shooting Cup" likely refers to a combination of historical events and a modern shooting competition. The "China Marines" were a U.S. Marine unit stationed in China for various periods, notably during the Boxer Rebellion November 2, 1899 - September 7, 1901, and the period of the Chinese Civil War August 1, 1927 - December 7, 1949.
