ARTIFACT: This is a circa late 1950s flight crew breast badge for British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC). BOAC flew from 1939 until it merged with British European Airways (BEA) to form British Airways (BA) in 1974. The badge shows the BOAC "Speedbird" in gold bullion.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/16" x 2-1/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool felt embroidered in bullion thread.

ATTACHMENT: Two posts with clutch backs.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge has some light wear and tarnish and one small hole through the felt to the mesh inside.
