ARTIFACT: This is a late 1940s – early 1950s badge for Flotilla 9F of the French Navy by Courtois of Paris. Flotilla 9F was so named in 1946 after originally being Fleet 9F. The group served at NAS Karouba from 1946 to 1953, and subsequently at NAS Hyères Le Palyvestre until January 1955. It disbanded in 1972. The badge shows a swan at its center against a field of blue. Voici un insigne pour Flotille 9F faite par Courtois de Paris. Flotille 9F fut ainsi nommé en 1946 après être à l'origine 9F Flotte. Le groupe a servi à BAN Karouba 1946-1953, et ensuite à BAN d'Hyères Le Palyvestre jusqu'en Janvier 1955. Il dissout en 1972. Le badge affiche un cygne en son centre contre un champ de bleu.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1940s – early 1950s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/8" in height and 1" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: COURTOIS.PARIS.
