ARTIFACT:
Korean War United States Air Force, United States Navy, and United States Marine Corps Aviation Safe Conduct Pass, Escape & Evasion Aid ID. This example has been unissued with no picture attached. Scarce paper artifact. The front shows a picture of the Great Seal of the United States, upon opening, the backside of the front cover reads: "JAPANESE TEXT" at the top with kanji (Japanese characters) below. The opposing side would bear the photograph and signature of the soldier. Upon opening the inside flap, the full inside reveals two additional languages, in the center it reads: "AMERICAN TEXT" and below: "THE BEARER OF THIS PASS IS AN AMERICAN AIRMAN. HE IS FRIENDLY TOWARD YOU. HELP HIM TO RETURN TO AMERICAN OR SOUTH KOREAN FORCES AND YOU WILL BE REWARDED". The final section reads: "KOREAN TEXT" at the top followed by the passage in Korean. The very back of the folded pass shows a full color American Flag.
