ARTIFACT:

This is an extremely rare 1920's - early 1930's - M1922 Imperial Japanese Navy (Probably "Landing Forces") "Cherry Blossom" Helmet. So-named for the vent hole cover on top. These helmets have always been exceedingly rare, and the Navy version even more rare. This helmet is in exceptional condition, with an overlay of camouflage sand paint, and remnants of plant matter, which may have been part of further camouflaging that the helmet once possessed. The liner is mostly intact, with one "finger" having separated, retaining all of the original pads. The chin strap is no longer present.

This helmet was located in Japan b y my wife over 25 years ago, and has been in her family possession ever since.

VINTAGE: 1920s - Early 1930s.

SIZE: The helmet measures 5-1/2" in height x 11-3/16" in width front to back x 8-15/16" in width side to side. The Cherry Blossom ventilation hole cover measures 2-3/4" in diameter. And the Navy Badge on front measures 1-1/4" in height x 7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Camouflage sand paint steel, canvas, leather, steel buckle.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: 25

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Japanese militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months.  VEJJJK22 LAFIGEX03//22 SADIFJX03/03/22

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): This helmet is in exceptional condition, with an overlay of camouflage sand paint, and remnants of plant matter.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
