ARTIFACT:

What we have here is an important piece of American History, Horse Racing History, Sports History, and a stupendous Cigar Collectible, all rolled up into one exquisite jeweler made piece of Sterling Silver & Steel.

Seabiscuit, possibly the most famous American Race Horse of all time, was a beacon of hope for an American slowly clawing its way out of the Great Depression. Seabiscuit's owner, Charles "C. S." Howard, was a showman of P. T. Barnumesque magnitude, who used his marketing experience to promote his horse at every turn.

It did not hurt that Seabiscuit was a born winner, and one of the fastest race horses to ever live.

One of Howard's traits was to always wine and dine and gift the sports writers who would be gracing the different newspapers and periodicals with tales of Seabiscuit's racing prowess.

Well, here we have one of those pieces. A true piece of History. A medium sized ashtray, for a single cigar, fashioned from one of the 4 Horseshoes that Seabiscuit was wearing when he won the San Juan Capistrano Handicap by SEVEN lengths on March 6th, 1937, and set a new track record. This information is hand engraved along the inside of the horseshoe, which was silver plated, and then the shoe was attached to a hand hammered silver tray, with silver "nails". The ashtray was presented to famous San Francisco Chronicle Sports Columnist "Jolly Roger" and is engraved to him in the center of the tray, from C. S. Howard, 1937.

To own this ashtray, is to have a piece of American History from before the Second World War, to have a Horseshoe not only worn by the most famous Racehorse of all time, but to have been worn by him in a monumentally important race, and to have a truly incredible Cigar Ashtray.

Picture yourself using this ashtray with a lovely Partagas Corona, with a glass of Havana Club, and being transported back to 1937.
