ARTIFACT: This is a historically important aviator's automatic 24 hour watch from an unknown member of the United States Army Air Forces 509th Composite Group, Atomic Bomb Group. The 509th carried out the Hiroshima bombing. The watch was made by Seeland, a Swiss company, and has nicely engraved tropical scenes on each side of the cuff. The cuff reads 509TH COMPOSITE GROUP 29TH MAY 1945 on one side and TINIAN MARIANAS on the other.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-5/16" in height (across the face) and 2-5/8" in width (across widest part of watch) and 2-5/16" in depth (from face to cuff opening).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Glass, plated brass, stainless steel.

ATTACHMENT: Bracelet cuff-style watch.

MARKINGS: SEELAND INCABLOC WATERPROOF AUTOMATIC SWISS.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The watch shows some slight abrasions and minimal tarnish.
