ARTIFACT:
This is a heavy World War I French bronze medal of a US soldier. The medal is in its original box and shows a soldier charging across a battleground with trenches. The reverse shows a view of the French countryside with the names of several cities marked.
VINTAGE:
1919
SIZE:
The medal has a 2 ½ diameter, the box has a 2 7/8" diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
The medal is bronze, while the box is cardboard.
ATTACHMENT:
None.
MARKINGS:
The inside of the lid of the box is marked "henri TŽterger, 248, rue de Rivoli, PARIS, Grands Prix." The medal is marked "© By M. LORDONNOIS, 1919" on the front and "DEPOSE" and "STUDER Eot" on the reverse.
ITEM NOTES:
This is from a large collection of Army related items which we will be listing more of over the next months. Ebay VACX09 LAAEX09
CONDITION:
8 (Excellent-). The base of the cardboard box is in good condition, but the lid does show some signs of wear: The cardboard is weakened and slightly detached in some places along the rim, and the top of the lid is missing paint in a few areas. However, the box has served its purpose of protecting the medal very well, which is why the medal is in a great condition with very few signs of wear and only minor and very even tarnishing.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
