ARTIFACT: This is a Gorgeous Luxenberg WWII US Army/AAF Colonel rank insignia, also known as "War Eagle." The eagles on these pins face in opposite directions and they each hold arrows in their talons. The pins produced during wartime had the heads of the eagles and arrows face the same way, to signify war, hence the name "War Eagle." The pins produced out of wartime had the heads of the eagles and arrows face in opposite directions.

VINTAGE: Early WWII.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/4" in height x 1-7/8" in width each

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Sterling silver.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop in locking catch.

MARKINGS: Reverse: LUXENBERG. STERLING.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a US Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MCJV15 LBDEX01/17 SAIJX4/17

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent): The pin has a nice patina and has a "Been there" kind of look.
