ARTIFACT: Great WWI Home Front Ship Building service workers lapel pin in bronze on original card. At its peak, Hog Island employed some 30,000 workers and launched a vessel every 5.5 days. Its workers built 122 ships in four years, and although none saw service before the end of the war, many carried supplies during World War II. At Hog Island, the United States learned how to build large ships quickly on a grand scale from prefabricated parts.

VINTAGE: Circa WWI.

SIZE: Approximately 11/16" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with stabilizer, disc backing.

MARKINGS: None.

CONDITION: 9 (Excellent - Near Mint): Pin shows little to no wear, some small spots of tarnish and has handsome patina.
