ARTIFACT:
This is a great circa 1890's to 1900's Deputy Sheriff badge that was found in northern California. The badge is most likely from San Benito County, given where it turned up, but it could also be from San Bernardino or Santa Barbara County. There is also a possibility that it could have been used in Silver Bow County in Montana, but having been located in California, use in that state seems more likely. The badge is in a smaller, "Posse" size and has some nice decorative details. The badge has "the Look", great wear and the underlying brass has taken a brown bronze coloring. The badge looks like it could tell some stories of riding out in the Northern California mining country on a manhunt, if it could only talk...

Approximately: 1-1/8" in height bx 1-1/8" in width.
