ARTIFACT: This is a gorgeous circa 1913 New Jersey Fire Commissioner badge from the Avenel Fire District in New Jersey. This badge was no doubt made for one of the first five fire commissioners of the Avenel Fire District: Dr. A.F. Mount, J.B. Edgar, E.A. Moran, H. Posner and J. Praver. Now celebrating its 100th anniversary, the District takes care of properties in Avenel, as well as sections of the neighboring communities Colonia, Iselin and Woodbridge. The badge is by C.G. Braxmar of New York.

VINTAGE: Circa 1913.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: C.G. BRAXMAR CO. N.Y. (seems to have been double-stamped).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a New Jersey fire and rescue collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEJX13 LAFEX12/13 SeBAJX8/16

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The badge has only some very light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
