ARTIFACT: This is a German-made distinctive insignia for the United States Army 709th Military Police Battalion. The DI is a beautiful mossy green showing a golden galley ship in full sail bearing a fleur-de-lis and reads SECURITAS COPIARUM (Guardians of the Troops). The fleur-de-lis represents service in France, which started when the battalion landed at Normandy in 1944.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II era.

SIZE: 1-3/16" height and 1-1/8" width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-plated brass with green enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: N/A.

ITEM NOTES: This item has been rated a level II rarity by ASMIC (the American Society of Military Insignia Collectors). This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MCX97 LDJX10/10

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): DI shows very little wear with one slight nick in enamel.
