ARTIFACT: This is a fantastic circa 1945 United States Navy flight surgeon belt and belt buckle. They were theatre-made in Cavite, the Philippines, and are named to Frank J. Piper. At the time Piper was Flight Surgeon Lieutenant Commander, later to become Commander Frank J. Piper. The buckle shows a beautiful wing at its center bearing an acorn and an oak leaf.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 40-1/2" in length including buckle (adjustable) and 1-7/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cotton canvas, gold wash on nickel-plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Buckle; shoelace tied on buckle for tension.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Navy collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VBJX96 LCDEX12/12 SLBGEX5/16 SeVCDEX04/30/20

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The belt shows little wear with some small spots of discoloration on the inside only of the canvas belt.
