ARTIFACT: This is purportedly a United States Naval officer’s hat badge from the 1840s in coin silver with possible gilding to stars and anchor at one point. Please note that while we are certain of the vintage and that it is an American Naval piece, we are unsure that it is an officer's hat badge.

VINTAGE: Circa 1840s -1850s.

SIZE: About 2-1/2" width by 2" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand engraved Coin silver.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal T-bar pin with a "C" catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a large collection of early US Naval artifacts which we will be listing more of over the next few months. RAJJX04 LBJJJM6/05 SLBHGEX3/18

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine&emdash;Excellent): Minor wear and tarnishing; may have at one point had gilding to the stars and anchor.
