ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare 1943 yearbook for the United States Army 42nd Combat Team. It is entitles "The Album 1943, 442nd Combat Team" (Atlanta: Albert Love Enterprises, 1943), and was produced by the men of the 442nd at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. The 442nd was comprised of the 442nd Infantry, the 522nd Field Artillery Battalion, and the 232nd Engineers Company (combat). Activated on January 28, 1943, the 442nd was a Japanese-American group hailing mostly from Hawaii, a state that easily raised almost seven times its volunteer quota. The frontspiece of the album shows a crest with a riverboat symbolizing Mississippi and the team's motto: GO FOR BROKE.

VINTAGE: Circa 1943.

SIZE: 112 black and white pages; approximately 12" in height and 9" in width and 11/16" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cloth-wrapped cardboard, paper.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The yearbook is in rough condition with some moth chewings at the bottom right-hand corner, but all interior info is intact.
