ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare pocket patch for the United States Army 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team: it is one of only two known to exist. It is clearly worn and was removed from a uniform or fatigue jacket. It was handmade in Korea of silk embroidery upon woven silk. It is not known the exact reason for this specific design, but it has been conjectured that it could have been worn by the Pathfinders attached to the Combat Team because of the depiction of a winged black panther on the prowl.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950 (Korean War era).

SIZE: Approximately 4-5/8" in height and 3-3/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Hand-made in silk embroidery on woven silk with a woven silk backing and paper sizing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay MGEJX13 LBCGEX6/13 SGEJX3/15

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The patch is worn and has been removed from a uniform.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
