ARTIFACT:
What we have here is a pair of the Iconic and quite Rare
Curved Rectangle Lens Style WWI Imperial German Aviator Goggles. Late war
production, the frames on these are mostly zinc or magnesium, with just the
pivoting retaining outer edge made of tinned steel. The leather nose piece is
supple and strong, and the leather pads are in incredible condition. The
original strap has lost its flexibility, but is still strong and can be
adjusted to size for display. An incredibly difficult pair of goggle to locate,
with perfect lenses. Don't break one of those, they are irreplaceable!
VINTAGE:
World War I.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-1/16" in height x 7-1/8" in width x 3/4" in depth. Strap: 18" in length x 3/8" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
The goggles are made with tinned steel, glass, metal, black rubber, elasticized cotton strap, nose attachment is made by leather.
ATTACHMENT:
Elasticized (at one time...) cotton strap.
MARKINGS:
N/A.

CONDITION:
7 (Very Fine): No issues here whatsoever, except for the worn out ORIGINAL strap. If that was in better shape, these would rate an 8 or a 9.
GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
