ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare circa early 1950s Eniwetok Proving ground three years of service employee lapel pin for a private construction contractor, Holmes & Narver, Inc. Located in the Marshall Islands, the Eniwetok atoll bore witness to several A-bomb tests conducted by the USAF and USN between 1948 and 1958. This pin dates from the atoll's hydrogen bomb testing era, circa (1951-1958). Almost two decades later the area went through a decontamination process. The gold-filled pin was made by Balfour is embellished with a mushroom cloud. It has a removable tab with a "3" separate from the main pin.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1950's.

SIZE: Approximately 9/16" in width and 3/4" in height (including tab).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold-filled, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing, removable "3" tab.

MARKINGS: LGB (Balfour maker mark) 1/10 10K GF (on reverse of each piece).
