ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare, so-called "Christmas Scarf" given to all AVG (American Volunteer Group) members by Madame Chiang Kai-shek with the Generalissimo's chop in hand-done red silk embroidery. The China Air Task Force (CATF) replaced the 1st American Volunteer Group (aka "Flying Tigers") and was the precursor to the 14th Air Force. The white scarf is framed against a velvet background and is labeled with a brass placard.

VINTAGE: Circa 1941.

SIZE: Framed: approximately 18-3/8" height and 10-3/8" width and 1-5/8" in thickness (scarf itself is approximately 26-1/2" by 28-1/2').

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Silk with silk embroidery, velvet, brass; frame: plastic/glass/paper/wire.

ATTACHMENT: Wire.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Flying Tiger collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. PART-JMB-11 LHEJJX10/11 SGEJJX3/12

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The scarf has been well-preserved and has only some very small spots of normal, light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
