ARTIFACT: Extremely rare 1944 Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) Reunion Representative Medal from Des Moines, Iowa. The medal is an eagle, wings spread clutching crossed artillery in its talons, suspended from which is a round medal that reads: "COMMANDER IN CHIEF GEORGE H. JONES" with his bust engraved in high relief in the center. The ribbon is bright in color and reads: "REPRESENTATIVE 78TH NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC DES MOINES, IA. SEPT. 10 -15 1944"

VINTAGE: Circa 1944

SIZE: Approximately: Medal: 3 ¾" long x 2 ½"; Ribbon: 5 ¾" x 2"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Brass, blackened bronze, ribbon

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal safety style pin.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a veteran's collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-TCD-25-15 LBDGEX3/15 RET11/16

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine&emdash;Very Fine): Medal shows light wear with an overall handsome patina, the ribbon shows separation in center and at end.
