ARTIFACT:
Extremely rare 1940's Cuban Policia Secreta Nacional Detective Badge. The badge is of the Batista period for a Detective in the Cuban National Secret Police. 1940's, but could be earlier as badge was in existence at least as early as 1939. The front shows a raised shield encircled by a wreath and the outer enamel ring reads: "POLICIA SECRETA NACIONAL" and a scroll/banner below reads: "DETECTIVE". The badge is nickel plated brass, but enameled central ring with title and enamel is sterling, or at least coin silver and was made in Cuba. The reverse shows maker's marks that read: "ANTIGUA VILARDEBO Y RIERA HECHO en CUBA" and show the number: "1135"
