ARTIFACT: This is an extremely rare circa late 1820s fire bucket named to T.(Thomas) B. Newhall of the Lynn Fire Club of Lynn, Massachusetts. The Newhalls were an old and prestigious Lynn family: Thomas B. was an attorney and founding member of the Lynn Fire Club, which adopted its constitution January 2, 1826. The bucket is wood wrapped in stitched green painted leather with black trim and lettering.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1820s.

SIZE: Approximately 13-1/4" in height and 8-1/8" in diameter (at rim).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wood wrapped in painted leather.

ATTACHMENT: Loop handle (one is missing).

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an early Massachusetts fire and rescue collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. MHEX13 LHEJX11/13 Hd6/14

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine-Very Fine): The fire bucket has some small areas of light to moderate wear, especially along the rim; one handle is missing.
