ARTIFACT:
Extremely rare, circa 1926 - 1927 ACC Aero Corporation of California Pilot Wing in sterling silver by Entenmann Jewelry Company of Los Angeles. The Aero Corporation of California was the first company to fly air transport between Los Angeles and Phoenix. ACC was the predecessor and parent company of Standard Air Lines. From washing dishes to selling newspapers, a $5.00 plane ride was all it took for one of the founders Jack Frye to devote his life to aviation. Lee Willey learned to fly in California in 1924 and Paul Richter had his start as a stunt pilot in Hollywood. In 1926 The Aero Corporation of California was founded by Lee Wiley, Paul Richter, and Jack Frye (jack-frye.blogspot.com). The wing is large and beautiful with wonderful details and most of the original lacquer remains intact, the center plate of the wing reads: "ACC" with an arrow piercing through it.
Along with Air Transport, ACC also offered Pilot Training, and The company's slogan was, "Guaranteed to solo for $250." Willey was the chief instructor with five assistant pilots.
