ARTIFACT:
Extremely rare badge, patch, and credentials of the head of the Massachusetts Governor's Commission of Boating Advisors of William J. Hill. During WWII Hill served in the United States Navy, and upon his return fostered his love of the open water while working at the family boat house and giving sailing lessons in Wakefield, MA. William (Bill) J. Hill was the Founder and President of the New England Marine Trades Association, President of the National Marine Representatives Association, Secretary Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association, and served on the Governor's Commission of Boating Advisors. The badge is chrome plated brass and features the State Seal of Massachusetts in the center, surrounding the state motto reads: "ENSE PETIT PLACIDAM SUB LIBERTATE QUIETEM" – "With a sword, she seeks quiet peace under liberty." The top of the badge reads: "MASS. GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION COMMITTEEMAN BOATING ADVISORS" in blue painted lettering. The gorgeous bullion patch shows the state symbol of a Native American inside a blue shield holding a bow and arrow, with the arrow pointed down to signify peace and a white star shows above his left shoulder, surrounding it reads: "GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION BOATING ADVISORS" in beautiful bullion detail. The credentials feature a color photo of Mr. Hill and reads: "COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION OF BOATING ADVISORS" and beneath his name, date of expiration, and signature and the credentials are: "CARD NUMBER 018".

Credentials: "THE PERSON WHOSE PHOTOGRAPH AND SIGNATURE APPEAR HERON IS A DULY ACCREDITED MEMBER OF THIS COMMISSION UNDER EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. EIGHTY" and the reverse reads: "SECURITY PHOTO IDENTIFICATION SERVICES, INC. BOSTON, MASS. 02215" – No marks on badge or patch.

CONDITION:
9- (Overall - Excellent+): Grouping has seen minor wear, the patch was removed from clothing, and all three artifacts are in in excellent condition.
