ARTIFACT:
Early WWII United States Army Service Gas Mask in kidney bag. M1XA1. The gas mask is flexible and all of the rubber, supple. The front of the gas mask features two lens covers encased in steel, and six steel buckle fasteners around mask. The buckles are laced with thick canvas olive drab adjustable straps, one is marked: "1 - 39 3" and the top front of the mask is marked "US U". The rubber stamp under the chin reads: "C5-2-229 12-40 LOT B 252 F 12 41 E 41RID2 376". The inside is clean and shows only minor wear. The tank is marked: "US 14 IXAI" "LOT FY395-1". The hose is great condition overall. The inside of the bag has straps to hold the tank in place. The front of the bag says "US U Army Services Gas Mask", while the inside is marked "MIVA1FT395-1" and "D-2929" and is named to DUNKERLY 3228(?)2929 written in red marker on one of the bag straps.

Mask approximately: 9" x 11 ½"; Hose: 29". Bag approximately: 15 ½" x 14" (with top flap open).

CONDITION:
8+ (Excellent): The gas mask shows minor wear, all the rubber is flexible and supple, the bad shows moderate wear, soiling, and the steel components show areas of oxidation, overall excellent condition.
