ARTIFACT:
This is an Early War Đ Philippine Scout Air Corps Air Medal, awarded to Staff Sergeant Ellis T. Pfeifer. He was Killed in Action on the 21st of July, 1944 when the plane he was stationed in as the Left Waist gunner, "Our Baby," collided with another plane, The "Diana-Mite" over Germany. He was given this Air Medal, along with the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal in his honor. Ellis served with the 734th Bomb Squadron, 453rd Bomb Group, 8th AF.
