ARTIFACT: This is a very rare and early United States Coast Guard first aid tin painted in a glossy black. The top of the tin reads U.S. COAST GUARD in stencil and on the inside cover there is an American Red Cross Emergency Medical Kit Contents list and instructions.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: 2-3/4" in height and 7-1/8" in width and 6-3/8" in depth.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Painted tin with stenciled detail, printed paper and brass hardware.

ATTACHMENT: Two chest fasteners, two hinges, swiveling loop handle.

MARKINGS: E.C. MARTIN stamped twice on onside of lid; CORBIN on hardware.

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): There is a fair amount of rusting inside the tin and some abrasions without but tin is still functional and handsome.
