ARTIFACT: This is a circa early 1970s jacket patch for the United States Air Force 36th Tactical Fighter Squadron, also known as the "Flying Fiends". Stationed at Korat AFB, Thailand during the Vietnam War, the 36th initially flew F-105 Thunderchiefs. After transferring to Yokota AFB in Japan, they operated F-4 Phantom II fighters. The 36th was called to Kunsan AFB in South Korea and finally Osan AFB to finish out their tour of duty. The patch is Japanese-made and embroidered upon yellow and blue cotton. It shows a helmeted "Fiend" with his tongue hanging out.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1970s.

SIZE: Approximately 5-5/8" in height and 2-15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Cotton embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads, muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.
