ARTIFACT: Early 1940's Diehl Manufacturing Co. worker photo identification badge from Finderne, New Jersey. Philip Diehl started out as a machine designer for the Singer Manufacturing Co. until 1885 when he started his own company which became known as Diehl Manufacturing Co. (a division of Singer Manufacturing Co.) Diehl is known for creating the first motor driven electric fan, later to become the first oscillating fan, and to this day continues to make a wide variety of wood and metalworking tools, machinery, and motors. The employee badge is round steel and dark blue enamel, reading: "DIEHL MFG. CO. FINDERNE, N. J." surrounding the photo of employee #6349 and was made by Whitehead and Hoag. Diehl Manufacturing Co. was located in Elizabeth, New Jersey and moved to Fiderne in 1941 for wartime production.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1940's.

SIZE: Approximately: 1-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, paper, photo paper, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop in locking catch.

MARKINGS: "WHITEHEAD HOAG"

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Badge shows minor to moderate wear, the photo is in great condition and nearly all the enamel details remain fully intact.
