ARTIFACT: Early 1920's Latvian Order of the Three Stars, Second Class was given for meritorious service to Latvia. The medal was established in 1924 and is a white enameled Maltese cross with a blue medallion in the center bearing three stars in raised detail. The reverse shows a medallion in the center that reads: "LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA — 1918.G.18. NOVEMBRIS" and surrounding it: "PER ASPERA AD ASTRA" (Through Hardship to the Stars). The suspension ring is intricately detailed resembling a wreath and the reverse shows a maker's mark: "F.M.", "875" (see photo). The medal's ribbon is a light green color with bronze or dark brown stripes.

SIZE: Approximately Medal (inc. suspension ring): 2-7/8" x 1-3/4" Full Length: 10-3/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enamel, gilt brass, silk ribbon

ATTACHMENT: Silk ties.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The medal shows minor to moderate wear and light soiling mostly to ribbon, nearly all the enamel and gilt details remain intact.
