ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1970 jacket patch for the United States Coast Guard Cutter Westwind (WAGB-281), IBSEC (Aviation) Detachment 13. Westwind was a Wind-Class icebreaker launched on March 31, 1943. The patch reads GREENLAND SUMMER SURVEYS ARCTIC FAST 70 and shows a black cat and a pair of dice at its center

VINTAGE: Circa 1970.

SIZE: Approximately 5-7/8" in height and 5-1/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered with cotton/poly/silk embroidery thread. mesh backing.

ATTACHMENT: To be sewn onto garment.

MARKINGS: None.
