ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1960 United States Air Force 6593rd Test Squadron jacket patch. Stationed at Hickam AFB, Hawaii, the 6593rd was born in 1958 with its mission being to recover space capsules which had re-entered the Earth's atmosphere as part of the National Reconnaissance Office's "Corona" project. The patch is embroidered upon twill and shows a blue eagle clutching at a red parachute with a lightning bolt in the background.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960.

SIZE: Approximately 4-7/16" in height and 2-15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Twill embroidered in cotton/polyester threads, vinylized mesh backing.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.
