ARTIFACT: This is a Australian-made patch prop for the fictional "USS Sawfish" submarine in the 1959 movie "On the Beach", starring Gregory Peck as the sub's captain, as well as Ava Gardner. The movie takes place in 1964 in Australia, one of the only habitable areas left on earth after World War III. The real-life Sawfish (SS-276) went on ten World War II patrols and earned eight battle stars for her trouble. This patch shows a light blue sub at the center of a nuclear symbol. Listed separately for sale is a shoulder arc prop from the same movie that came to us with the shoulder arc (please see link at bottom of page for more information).
