ARTIFACT: This is a worker badge for Vermont Machine Company that dates to the 1930s or World War II era. Vermont Machine Company of Bellows Falls, Vermont, got its start in 1868 under the name Hartford Sorghum Machine Company, and changed to its newer name in 1873. A cream separator made by the company earned them an auspicious award at the 1900 Paris Exposition. The two piece badge is numbered 72and is by Whitehead & Hoag of Newark, New Jersey.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s-World War II.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel-plated brass with painted details, paper, celluloid.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with drop-in locking catch.

MARKINGS: THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge shows only some light wear.
