ARTIFACT: This is a dated 1943 officer's hat belonging to World War II Major General Leven C. Allen, the Chief of Staff for the 12th Army Group. The hat was made in the United Kingdom and has his name inside the brim and the date of 1943 stamped as well.

VINTAGE: Circa World War II.

SIZE: Hat is size 7.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool hat with silk lining and leather brim and hat band; gold-plated brass insignia.

ATTACHMENT: N/A.

MARKINGS: Original manufacturer's label reads MANUFACTURED BY HONSON & SONS (LONDON) LTD LONDON S.E. EXPRESSLY FOR THE UNITED STATES FORCES IN EUROPEAN OPERATIONS; stamp 1943 7; initialed L.C. ALLEN.
