ARTIFACT:
This is a 1960's vintage USN G-1 Flight Jacket by L. W. Foster Sportswear Co. in size 40. It was worn by Colonel Dewey F. Durnford while he was commander of MAG-31. It sports a nice Japanese made example of the MAG-31 patch on the right breast, and on the shoulder is a small size, Japanese Made, Korean War Vintage US AIR FORCE 335th Fighter Squadron patch, also Japanese made. Durnford's last Kill (actually ½ Kill) was made wile detached to the 335th FIS, 4th FW, USAF where he downed a MIG-15 while piloting an F-86 Jet. Durnford served for 29 years before retiring, he received his wings in December 1943. He served in the Pacific and shot down 6 1/3 Japanese aircraft while at Okinawa. Durnford also shot down the first pilot-controlled Baka bomb seen in the conflict. He was awarded the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, and numerous others.

Leather, embroidered patch cotton/polyester/silk thread, faux fur, metal zipper, nylon/polyester cuff, resin buttons.

CONDITION:
7- (Very Fine-): Flight jacket shows moderate to heavy wear, and repair to the collar. Perforated USN wind guard flap. Embroidered patches show wear and soiling, zipper is in working condition.
