ARTIFACT:
This is a USN US Navy / USMC US Marine Corps aircraft instrument by Minneapolis-Honeywell Regulator Company from ca 1951. The instrument is labeled as an "Indicator - Fuel Quantity" on reverse and reads CAPACITY 1105 U.S. GAL. FUEL HUNDREDS on its face. There is a "Test" button on front.
This fuel gauge was made for use in an early, pre-operational F9J Cougar Jet Fighter Aircraft.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1951.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-1/4" square and 5-3/4" in depth.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Glass, steel, brass, Bakelite.
ATTACHMENT:
Bolts, nuts, holes, prongs.
MARKINGS:
MH (Minneapolis-Honeywell) impressed maker mark on face; 408649A and a few hard-to-read stamps on side; INDICATOR - FUEL QUANTITY MFR'S. NO. G200A4 SERIES 1 SERIAL NO. AF51-7867 AMPLIFIER VOLTS 400 CY. MINNEAPOLIS-HONEYWELL REGULATOR CO. PROPERTY - U.S. GOVERNMENT and 22-33P AMPHENOL and other marks on reverse.
