ARTIFACT:
Circa 1910's – 20's French Lifesaving Society Member Medal. The Lifesaving Society is a non-profit organization whose purpose is the prevention of drowning and water related traumas. Established in 1898, the Society assumes the role of expert authority and is recognized as the reference center establishing standards on prevention of drowning and water related traumas. The medal is a 8-pointed white and blue enameled star with a black disc in the center depicting an anchor, around it reads: SAUVETEURS DU DERNIER ADIEU, the star is suspended from a ribbon colored with white, black, red, and blue stripes.

Gilt bronze, enamel, ribbon.
