ARTIFACT:
Circa 1888 stunning, large format Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream printed in Nuremburg, Germany by Ernest Nister. The United States Edition was published by Dutton. The front features beautiful gilt details and features a gorgeous center color image. The thick pages feature whimsical illustrations and nice, gilt edges. This book is a lovely example, all pages are present, but sadly only two of the six original lithographs are present (see below for detailed condition). The cover page reads: "A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. NEW YORK: E. P. DUTTON & COMPANY, 31, WEST TWENTY-THIRD STREET" and the reverse shows a nice illustration and beneath reads: "PRODUCED AND PRINTED BY ERNEST NISTER AT NUREMBURG. COPYRIGHT."

Circa 1888.

Approximately 15" in height x 12" in width, and approximately 1-1/4" in depth.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Gilt canvas cover, thick paper board, thick card stock, lithograph painting, tissue paper, gilt edges, ink, glue.

Sewn, glued binding (showing separation internally).

CONDITION:
5+ (Fine-): The cover shows minor to moderate wear, mold/water damage, as does the inside page, the cover has slight corner rubbing, binding shows separation, two of the six original lithographs remain intact, all pages are present, condition reflects discounted price.
