ARTIFACT: This is a Scarce Early World War II US ARMY #'d Purple Heart, Awarded Posthumously to Frank C Schroeder. We are still researching this medal to find out the details of Mr. Schroeder's Service, and Death.

The Purple Heart is in its original box of issue, from the manufacturer THE ROBBINS COMPANY in Attleboro, Massachusetts. 

The box is dated June 8 1942 and is serial numbered 428389, matching the serial number on the rim of the Purple Heart. 

VINTAGE: World War II.

SIZE: Approximately Purple Heart: 3" in height x 1-3/8" in width. Box: 3-7/8" in length x 2-1/8" in width x 3/4" in height.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold plated and enameled brass, silk. carton box, ink, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal Pin with come-under locking catch.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Military Medals collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VABEM19 LGIEX09/03/23 SGIEX12/27/24

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The purple heart shows little to minor wear, silk ribbon is attached on the ribbon bar, need it to be sewn to the ribbon, otherwise, it is in excellent condition. Box shows some wear that top & bottom left side corner shows slightly damaged. Overall, it is in excellent condition.
