ARTIFACT: This is an unidentified pair of hat or collar badges from the State of Maine, possibly from the State Police or the National Guard. Each badge is the Maine State Seal, with the motto "Dirigo" (I lead). These badges date to the 1930s or perhaps even earlier.

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s or earlier.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/16" in height and 1-1/16" in width (each).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with tongue catch (on each).

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an accumulation of unidentified items which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Item will not be sold until it is identified. CON-DMB-25-14 LX3/14

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The badges show only light wear and one has a small spot of oxidation.
