ARTIFACT:
Beautiful signed First Edition of PC Patrol Craft of World War II: A History of the Ships and Their Crews by Wm. J. Veigle, Ph.D., USNR (Ret). This hard cover example is in excellent condition with the dust jacket intact and features the author's signature on the inside cover page. The author served in the Pacific Theater during WWII and later, Lieutenant Viegle was the Commanding Officer of Research Reserve Co. 9-21 in Denver, Colorado before his retirement from the Naval Reserve in 1968. Once called the "Forgotten Fleet", Viegle draws from his and many other soldiers' experiences, photographs, and drawings while serving on PC Patrol Craft in WWII to recreate an integral part of US Naval History. The book includes a poster-sized blueprint of a Sub Chaser (PC) that reads: "PLAN FOR MODELING A PC PATROL CRAFT OF THE PC 461 CLASS" and was drawn by Jon B. Tombaugh, 1987.
