ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful circa late 1942 shoulder patch on velvet for the United States Army Air Forces China Air Task Force (CATF). The patch is theatre-made and shows a golden winged tiger and a silver star done in bullion. The CATF replaced the 1st American Volunteer Group (aka "Flying Tigers") and was the precursor to the 14th Air Force.

VINTAGE: Circa late 1942 (World War II).

SIZE: Approximately 2-3/4" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Velvet embroidered in bullion and silk thread.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army Air Forces collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-CA-25-VCJJX12 LDEJX8/13 RET10/13

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The patch has some light wear.
