ARTIFACT: Beautiful, late 1940's United States Army 511th Airborne Oval. This example is a thin bright green border, thick white border variant embroidered on an unusual medium electric blue Japanese silk backing and is without the wing. After the Japanese surrender, the 511th was stationed in Morioka, Japan during the start of the occupation of Iwate and Aomori Prefectures and remained there until 1949 when the battalions strategically departed for the United States. VINTAGE: Circa late 1940's

SIZE: Approximately 3-7/8" x 2"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Embroidered Japanese silk, silk/cotton/polyester thread

ATTACHMENT: None, was removed from clothing.

MARKINGS: N/A

ITEM NOTES: This is from a US Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MAJJV16 MAJJX16 LCCEX4/16

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The oval shows moderate wear and light soiling, two small holes inside oval, overall very fine condition.
