ARTIFACT:
Beautiful, late 1940's United States Army 511th Airborne Oval. This example is a thin bright green border, thick white border variant embroidered on an unusual medium electric blue Japanese silk backing and is without the wing. After the Japanese surrender, the 511th was stationed in Morioka, Japan during the start of the occupation of Iwate and Aomori Prefectures and remained there until 1949 when the battalions strategically departed for the United States.
