ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful group of four pre-World War II United States Marine Corps "shorty" medals in 18 karat gold along with a 14 karat gold National Match medal by Dieges & Clust from 1940-1941. All of the medals (except the National Match medal) are engraved on reverse to Vito Perna.

VINTAGE: Circa pre-World War II through early World War II.

SIZE: National Match medal: approximately 3-1/16" height and 1-3/8" width; Distinguished Pistol Shot medal: approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width; Distinguished Marksman medal: approximately 1-15/16" in height and 1-13/16" in width; both round Marine Corps medals: approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: All medals are 18 karat gold with enamel, with the exception of the National Match medal, which is 14 karat gold with a 10 karat gold bar, with no enameled areas and a silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pins with come-under locking swivel catches.

MARKINGS: National Match medal: 14KT DIEGES & CLUST with maker's mark; Distinguished Pistol Shot medal: PVT. VITO PERNA 1938; Distinguished Marksman medal: PVT. 1CL VITO PERNA 1939; Marine Corps "Division" medal: PFC. VITO PERNA 1939; Marine Corps medal showing EGA: PVT. 1CL VITO PERNA 1939.
