ARTIFACT: This is a Beautiful, Early UVU Union Veterans Union membership Medal Engraved to: JM.Kavanaugh, 2nd Lieut. Constitutional Guards 1st District of Columbia Volunteers. The organization was formed in 1886 to promote further camaraderie between Union veterans of the Civil War that some felt was lacking in existing groups such as the GAR and MOLLUS.

VINTAGE: Circa 1880's.

SIZE: Approximately Total Size: 3-1/8" in height x 1-5/8" in width Medal: 1-11/16" in height x 1-5/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Bronze, Silk ribbon.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: "JM. KAVANAUGH 2" LIEUT CONSTITUTIONAL GUARDS 1" D.C. VOLS."
